<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that the family of Donald James Goddard announces his passing on Wednesday February 15, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Don passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Living his life as a resident of Goderich, Don spent some of his earlier years sailing the Great Lakes working on the ships. He then moved on to work at Champion Road Machinery/Volvo Road Graders for over 40 years. Don dedicated his time and passion to representing the workers as a member and then president of the union. Don loved his family and devoted himself to them. He was adored by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren alike. Don had a passion for numbers watching the horses and keeping up with his favourite sports teams. Don is survived by his wife of 58 years Ruth-Ann (nee Gauley), his children Bill Goddard, Lynn (Wayne) Nicholson, Barb (Dave) Sproul and Bob Goddard. His grandchildren Dawn (Mark), Chris (Jenessa), Jenni, Brad (Jessica), Cody, Jason, Brandon, Donny, Elizabeth and his great grandchildren Kaitlyn and Liam. Also survived and missed by his siblings Dave (Joyce) Goddard, Ron Goddard, June (Dan) Williams, brothers in law Bert and Rod as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was predeceased by his parents Robert and Hazel (Brindley) Goddard, siblings Ethel “Toots” and Harry MacDonald, Dolly Chasson and Wilhelmina McKay. The family would like to thank the visiting staff of St. Elizabeth and Care Partners for their support over these past several months with Special thanks to Annerieke. Spring interment Maitland Cemetery.A private family visitation will take place on Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 10 - 12 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held in honour of Don at Knox Presbyterian Church, Goderich, on Saturday February 18, 2017 from 1-4PM. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice gratefully acknowledged.</div>
