<div itemprop="description"> <p> At her home in Goderich on Saturday October 6, 2012.&nbsp; Frances was born in Lucknow, Ontario, July 18, 1918 and moved to Toronto after finishing high school. Most of her working life was spent in the business world. During the War, she worked for the YMCA Was Services then Bell Telephone and later the National Employment Service. This led to an opportunity to teach commercial courses in the High Schools in Wingham and Goderich. She graduated from UWO and was teaching at GDCI on her retirement in 1982. Since then she did considerable traveling and volunteer work. </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> <p> She was predeceased by her parents Mr. and Mrs. F.T. Armstrong, her sister Winifred and Winifred&rsquo;s husband Alan Pentland. </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> <p> Frances is survived by her nephew Brian Pentland, his wife Vera and her niece Shelley Pentland, as well as Brian&rsquo;s children; Shawn and Tammy, Tammy&rsquo;s husband Peter and their children Karlene, Cameron and Curtis of Cobourg. </p> <p> Her volunteer work included the Alexandra Marine &amp; General Hospital Auxiliary where she was made a Provincial Life Member. She was a member of North Street United Church, the Probus Club, the Horticultural Society and the Library Book Club. </p> Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at North Street United Church, Goderich, on Saturday October 13, 2012 at 2:00 PM.&nbsp; Memorial Donations to Operation Eyesight gratefully acknowledged and may be arranged through McCallum &amp; Palla Funeral Home</div>
