<div itemprop="description"><br>It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Ian Russell Mabon. Ian passed away peacefully at Wingham Hospital on August 02, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Jan Beattie (2014), devoted father to Jennifer Doak and Ianthe (Mark) Kinahan and proud Papa of Alexis Doak. Predeceased by his parents Sam & Helen Mabon and brother Brian. Fondly remembered by his brothers Bud (Linda), Lyall (Karin), Scott and sister Linda Donald. Ian will also be greatly missed by Ruth Beattie, Donna & Bill Burbine and many nieces and nephews.<br><br>Ian enjoyed a long and successful career as a butcher. As a young man he worked at Ainslie's and O'Brien's before commencing employment as a Meat Inspector with the Federal government. He then opened up his own business 'Mabon Meats & Abattoir' and worked many years alongside Jan running this popular retail operation.<br><br>Ian took great pleasure in working on his vintage International Harvestor tractors and enjoyed many days fixing them up alongside his longtime friend David Rutledge. <br><br>A special thank you to Nurse Practitioner Alison Clark and Dr. Shubat for their support which included allowing Ian to direct his care on his terms. Thanks are also extended to the support workers, CCAC nurses and to the nursing staff and care team at Wingham hospital. <br><br>Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 20th from 1 - 4 p.m. at The White Carnation Banquet Hall in Holmesville. Arrangements entrusted to the McCallum & Palla funeral home in Goderich. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ian's memory will be gratefully acknowledged to a charity of your choice. <br><br><br></div>
