<div itemprop="description">James Patrick Doherty passed away peacefully on January 9, 2017, in his 81st. year, at AMGH after a hard fought battle. Survived by his beloved wife Doreen of 60 years, daughter Karen O'Brien(Paul), Claire Reynolds (Mike). Beloved Grandad of Keara and James O'Brien, Megan and Dean Reynolds. Brother of Eleanor (George) Main, Josephine (Chris) Proszowski. Loving Uncle of Ann Craven (Alan), Ellen Harris (Simon), Patricia Hyde (Eddie), Francis Ryan (Paul), Colleen Main, Gillian(Craig) Walker, Adrian and Amy Proszowski, and families. Also will be missed by his Irish cousins and their families. Predeceased by parents, James and Josephine Doherty, sister Mary Kerr and brother-in-law Jim Kerr.<br><br>Jim grew up in England and Ireland, emigrated to Canada with his wife and family in 1968, residing in London until 1976. The family then moved to Goderich where Jim was employed by Champion Road Machinery as an Overseas Service Manager until 1987, making many friends and acquaintances along the way in many different countries.<br><br>Jim had a keen interest in many sports including rugby, tennis and soccer, being a longtime supporter of Tottenham Hotspurs, he was also an avid golfer. Family always came first for Jim, he was especially proud of his grandchildren, and will be sadly missed. He loved people, was a very sociable man who was always eager to have a good conversation, and share a laugh. <br><br>Family and friends will be received at St. Peters Catholic Church, at 156 North St., Goderich on Saturday, January 14th from 9:00 AM - 9:45AM until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00AM, a Celebration of Jim's Life will follow in the basement of the church. As per Jim's wishes he will be cremated, and a Spring interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Donations in memory of Jim would be gratefully appreciated in lieu of flowers to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, Alzheimer Society, and Alexandra Marine and General Hospital. <br></div>
