LAMBERT, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” (nee Taylor)

It is with deep sadness that the family announce the death of Libby Lambert, in her 87th year, on Tuesday, January 20th, 2015. Libby was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Kenton Lambert, in 2006, and is survived by children Lesley (Konrad Engel), Taylor (Anne Marie), Nicky, Iain (Karen), and Pamela (Stephen Smalley), by grandchildren Kilian (Romina), Katharina (Sebastian Veit) and Maximilian Engel, Kenton, Michael, Anna and Stephen Lambert, Justin, David, Kate and Max Sully, Brittany (Patrick Revie), Adriane and Madeleine Lambert, Benjamin (Caroline), Peter and Emma Smalley, and by her great-granddaughter Annabelle Revie. Born in Goderich, Ontario on January 5, 1929, she completed a B.A at Queens University, and raised her family in Montreal, New England, Durban (South Africa) and Goderich.

Libby was vibrant, radiant, and fully engaged in life. Her unforgettable blue eyes were always full of laughter as she took complete delight in the company of her children and the antics of her 17 lively grandchildren. A constant source of love and support to Ken and her family, she was also a ferocious competitor on the tennis court, an avid skier, a CBC enthusiast, a sometimes reluctant canoe-tripper, a terrific cook, a world traveller, and a compassionate protector of all creatures great and small. Libby was probably at her happiest while enjoying the peace, solitude and beauty of the family farm (Lalapanzi), tending to her daffodils and to the many wild and domesticated animals that lived there.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the exceptional and continuous care received from all the staff during Libby’s years at Huronview in Clinton.

Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Huron County will be gratefully acknowledged and may be arranged through McCallum & Palla Funeral Home (519-524-7345).
