THOMPSON, William (Bill)

At Alexandra Marine and General Hospital on Saturday, January 21, 2017, Bill Thompson of Goderich in his 70th year, passed away surrounded by family. Beloved husband of Brenda Fisher (20 years). Loving father of Lori (Dave) Smith, step-father of Andrew Ryan (Victoria King) and Scott Ryan. Dear grandfather of Kaylin and Zachary Smith. Step-grandfather of Kaleb Viau and Haylee Ryan. Predeceased by son, John William Hugh Thompson.

Bill was dedicated to his work at B.M. Ross and Associates for 42 years. He was an avid bird watcher and nature lover. Most days in the spring and summer, you could find Bill in the beautiful gardens at his home, taking pictures of all the flowers. Especially lilies - they were his favourite. Not only were the flowers beautiful but there was also an abundance of raspberries and fresh vegetables always available.

Bill will live on through his thoughtful donation to the Eye Bank. In Ontario last year, 59 surgeries had to be cancelled due to a lack of cornea donations.

A very grateful thank you goes out to all of the family supporters through the past few months of this arduous journey.

At Bill’s request, there will be no funeral home visitation or service. A casual “come and go” will be held at the Park House on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. Memorial donations to Canadian Mental Health or the Heart and Stroke Foundation gratefully acknowledged and may be arranged through McCallum & Palla Funeral Home 519-524-7345.
